About Christine
Christine Croteau is a self taught artist, born in Nottingham, England. She has been interested in drawing and painting from an early age. Oil, Acrylics, Watercolour, Soft Pastels and Charcoal are the media she prefers to use to create her works of art. The changing light of the rural landscape, the steady gaze of the Portrait and the small, quiet ceremony off the still life.
She paints from a sunlit corner studio, beginning each work with thin, transparent layers of colour and slowly building toward the warm, dusty light her work is known for. There is a deliberate softness to her hand — edges are allowed to wander, colour is allowed to bloom, and the whole canvas is given room to breathe.
As an artist she participated in numerous Exhibits, both group and solo. Her work can be found in private collections in England, USA, Australia and Canada. Her artistic goal is always to improve and have the power to inspire the viewer.
